Inspector Tim Skinner has been a member of York Regional Police since 2002. Over his 19-year career, he has served in uniform patrol, Incident Response, CriminalInvestigations, Operational Support, and Property and Evidence Management. He was also seconded to work full time on the planning and operation of the 2015PAN/PARAPAN Am Games and is a certified Public Order Commander.  

Inspector Skinner’s Public Order career began with basic public order training with the West Midlands Police in Birmingham, England in 1998. Since that time he has been deployed to a wide range of large scale crowd events including foot ball matches and other sporting events, Royal visits, Presidential visits, the North American Leadership Summit, G8/G20 and numerous incidents of public disorder. He was deployed in Ottawa for the Freedom Convoy protests in the roles of on ground commander, planner and a member of the command team for the final weekend.

Inspector Skinner graduated from Wilfred Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2011 and a Master of Public Safety, also from Wilfred Laurier in August 2021.

Active in his community, Inspector Skinner volunteers with the Grace Anglican Church in Markham and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra.
